The Lancia Flavia Cabrio is set to make its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, along with a host of other new Lancia products. The 175-horsepower 2.4-liter I4 and six-speed automatic transmission come standard, and will make sure to push your butt back into its fine, fine (optional) leather. Sure, you can use the whole seat… but you’ll only need the edge.

Chrysler to end Ram Dakota production on Tuesday

Chrysler is officially killing the 2011 Ram Dakota this week, which the UAW fears may lead to nearly 150 hourly positions getting the chop. The move has already spelled the end for 39 temporary positions at Chrysler’s Warren Truck Plant.

According to Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, the Dakota will likely be replaced with a “lifestyle vehicle.” Chrysler sold a scant 13,000 Dakotas last year. By contrast, Dodge moved 177,000 of the compact pickups in 2000.

SRT8 models to boast 570-hp supercharged option for 2012?

If 470 horsepower is fun, 570 raging stallions can be positively evil. Rumor has it that Chrysler thinks so too, and the automaker plans to unveil an optional tier of SRT vehicles with upgraded powerplants. Later in the year, the Dodge Charger SRT8 and Chrysler 300 SRT8 will reportedly be available with an Eaton-sourced supercharger that will up output to somewhere in the 540-570-horsepower range.

The option (which could possibly come in kit form to be installed at the dealer) will be offered on 2013 model year cars, and, if the rumor holds true, it comes with another upgraded feature to help meter out the extra go-fast energy. Chrysler will fit the four door sports cars with an eight-speed automatic transmission. We sure hope this all pans out.

First Drive: 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8

The new 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, the highest-performing model ever in Chrysler’s lineup, boasts a powerful 6.4-liter Hemi V8 punch, massive Brembo brakes, lightweight forged wheels, countless hours of suspension tuning and a slew of cosmetic goodies. It is, without question, a very impressive sport sedan. But choosing a target like the CTS-V, Cadillac’s highly regarded flagship performance vehicle, may reveal a bit too much confidence. After all, the CTS-V isn’t just more powerful – its chassis is a bit lighter, it’s shorter in stature and it wears stickier shoes. Of course, it’s also much more expensive.

Introduced as a concept at the 2003 New York Auto Show, the first production Chrysler 300 rolled into showrooms shortly thereafter as 2005 models. Designed during the peak of the DaimlerChrysler relationship, the 300 was a big change from its front-wheel-drive 300M (and Concorde) predecessors. The new car had bold styling and was built on a sophisticated rear-wheel-drive platform with a suspension borrowed from the W210 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (1996-2002) and W220 S-Class (1999-2006). Standard models were fitted with a 2.7-liter V6 rated at 190 horsepower, but a range-topping SRT8 model debuted at the 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance boasting a 6.1-liter V8 rated at 425 horsepower. It was a much-needed shot in the arm for both the car and brand.

John Varvatos pilots a 2011 Chrysler 300 through NYC

Chrysler’s “Imported from Detroit” advertising campaign continues to march on. It all started with Eminem hyping up both his city and the new Chrysler 200. Now, the focus is squarely on the (much more worthy) 2011 Chrysler 300, and a new face joins the party. We’ve seen Detroit Lion Ndamukong Suh take the 300 on a trip back to his Portland, Oregon roots. In a new spot called “Attitude,” Detroit-born fashion designer John Varvatos reflects on the inspiration for his clothing.

Chrysler hit a high note when it employed the services of Eminem to show off its new 2011 200 sedan. That commercial put the exact type of spotlight on Detroit that the city was looking for. The automaker is going back to the same well stylistically for a new spot featuring the 2011 Chrysler 300. It’s still tied to The D, but this time, it shows a person returning to their roots back in Portland, Oregon.

New York 2011: Chrysler’s 200 S Convertible

Chrysler has injected a dash of menace into the 200 convertible, and the result is the 2011 200 S droptop. It’s not outright evil, since it still packs the same 283-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and the same suspension. However, the S version trends a bit toward the dark side thanks to a host of exterior changes designed to bring a dose of cool to Chrysler’s rental lot standby. Naturally, if you prefer your cars with fixed roofs, Auburn Hills will be happy to sell you a 200 S sedan, as well.

Chrysler debuts S-Concept 300 models at Spring Festival of LXs

Chrysler unveiled the 300 S-Concept models, modded versions of its already hot-looking 2011 Chrysler 300. In the case of the featured video car, the big rear-drive Chrysler receives updates ranging from bigger, more audacious wheels, body-color moldings and an a new grille that looks like the outline of a brick wall. The interior has also received some custom touches, including a sea of red leather just about everywhere one’s body touches, along with an italic ‘S’ on each throne. 2011 Ram 1500 Tradesman is built to work

Ram Truck has just dropped a low-buck bombshell on the 2011 Chicago Auto Show with the 1500 Tradesman. The pickup comes standard with the company’s 5.7-liter V8 with 390 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque mounted to a five-speed automatic transmission, and Chrysler says that the drivetrain is good for 20 mpg on the highway. Specifically set up for small businesses, contractors and fleet service, the Tradesman is also loaded with a Class IV hitch and a handy transmission cooler. That kit helps crank up the truck’s tow rating to a lofty 10,450 pounds.
