Delhi Assembly Election 2020: How much magic will face

Delhi Assembly Election 2020: How much magic will face

A question is in the discussion about Delhi standing on the threshold of elections – can any face change the pace of elections this time?

This is the question, which is now visible in the Twitter trend, and the Aam Aadmi Party, which claims to form the government again, is enjoying a lot.

The party, which is trolling under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress have no face against the current Chief Minister.

AAP leader and candidate from Timarpur seat Dilip Pandey said, “This is a huge advantage for the Aam Aadmi Party. The Bharatiya Janata Party has neither issues left in Delhi nor leadership left.”

But, can a certain face really change the course of elections?

All three parties had made faces

Analysts tracking Delhi’s politics answer this question on the basis of data. In the current century i.e. after 2000, in Delhi, out of the four assembly elections in Delhi, the victory was won by the leaders who led the election.

In the years 2003 and 2008, Congress defeated the intentions of the Bharatiya Janata Party by winning 47 and 43 seats with the ‘developmental’ image of Sheila Dixit. On the result of this result, Sheila Dixit made a record of being Chief Minister in Delhi thrice and became one of the strongest leaders of the party.

At the same time, in 2015, Kejriwal, who was heavy on Kiran Bedi, did not allow the election wave of Narendra Modi to appear in full force in the Delhi Assembly. The Aam Aadmi Party managed to win 67 out of 70 seats. Kejriwal made a strong comeback to the Indian political scene with his 2015 victory after his resignation from the 49-day government.

Vijender Gupta, one of the three MLAs elected on the BJP ticket in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, does not attach much importance to these figures. Gupta claims that the party’s strategy is not to announce the name of the Chief Minister candidate before the election.

But, this strategy is seen by many analysts as a weak link of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Senior journalist Pramod Joshi, who keeps a close watch on the politics of Delhi, says that the face has’ importance and if there is any face it should be brought to the fore. For some time, Congress had the face of Sheila Dixit. Then his image was linked to change and development.

In Pramod Joshi’s opinion, such decisions also affect the thinking of the voters.

What did Amit Shah say

The importance of the face is well understood by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Narendra Modi’s face gave the party a decisive edge over opponents in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Not only this, after the alliance broke with the Shiv Sena, a decades-old ally in Maharashtra, BJP President Amit Shah said in an interview to a news channel, “This mandate (Maharashtra Assembly results) came in the name of Devendra Fadnavis and Narendra Modi. Shiv Sena Including Aditya Thackeray, one of the candidates, was not one who did not make Modi’s cutout bigger than all the Shiv Sena leaders. ”

Shah is also relying on the ‘Modi magic’ to beat the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. At a Delhi rally in the first week of January, he said, “Wherever I go, I ask, what will happen in Delhi? I answer you today in front of all of you in Delhi under the leadership of Narendra Modi Is going to form a government. ”

The chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which suffered a crushing defeat in the 2015 assembly elections, also argued in support of its claim. Amit Shah rejected the challenge of Arvind Kejriwal and said, “Jhansa can give someone to anyone only once. I cannot give it again and again. AAP party (Aam Aadmi Party) is clean in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Gaya. My workers did the task of hoisting the flag of the Bharatiya Janata Party at 12064 booths out of the 13750 booths in the 2019 elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party has won 88 percent of the booths. ”

Shah’s assessment is that the hard work of the booth workers and Modi’s face may erase the tightness of the party that has been craving to win a majority in the Delhi Assembly since 1998.

Vijender Gupta also makes a similar claim. They say that people have understood. BJP can give speed to the development of Delhi. Modi Ji wants to develop in Delhi. Kejriwal is only working to take Delhi back.

People are committing distress. The pollution is so much in Delhi. In five years the government has not done any work on both these issues. We will provide clean water in Delhi.” Clean air will be provided by Delhi. Unified transport system with last-mile connectivity. ”

Claiming that the people of Delhi have faith in Modi’s plan, he says, “The way Modi Ji has given ownership to 1731 colonies, it is not a simple thing.”

Pramod Joshi raises many questions about the claims of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.

If Delhi is to succeed as a state, then there should be a different strategy. For some time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has not been able to forward any local leader. It is said that Manoj Tiwari affects a lot of people in some areas, but Kejriwal is seen in front of him.

They also remind that after coming third in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party changed its strategy.

Kejriwal and Modi

Pramod Joshi reminds on the question of competition between Kejriwal and Modi in Delhi, “The 2019 election results had come when the Aam Aadmi Party had said that the next election in Delhi would be on the basis that the BJP government and the state at the center I have the government of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Congress party leader JP Aggarwal, who won second place in Delhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is also of the opinion that with the help of Modi in the assembly elections, BJP will not gain an edge.

Modi is not going to become the Chief Minister in Delhi. He names the three leaders of Delhi. Manoj Tiwari, Vijay Goel, Vijender Gupta did not say for anyone.

Agarwal also does not believe that Kejriwal’s name is such a miracle that the picture of the election changes. People see who has actually done what. Where we left Delhi in 2013, it did not grow even ten percent.”

But, the Aam Aadmi Party is rejecting all the allegations of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Dilip Pandey says, “For the first time it is happening that elections are being fought at work. A Chief Minister comes and says that if we have worked for you, then vote, otherwise vote. Delhi government wrote in the manifesto We did all the work, did the work which was not written in the manifesto. We did not write this in the manifesto, we will free 200 units of electricity. We will make the women’s bus free, we did not write in the manifesto. ”

Describing both the face and the work as important, he says, “The people of Delhi are very intelligent. The message is important for them and the messenger too. The credibility of the face, when delivered by that face, then increases the credibility of that face. has gone.”

Pramod Joshi also assesses that Kejriwal is able to increase his stature among the nobles present in the riots of Delhi.

They also add that a difficult thing about elections in India is that sometimes something happens at the last moment that the election stream changes.
